  1     Above you the stars, below you are the stones.
As time passes remember
like a star your love should be constant,
like a stone your love should be firm.
Be close, yet not too close,
posses one another, yet be understanding.
Have patience each with the other,
for storms will come, but they will go quickly.
Be free in giving of affection and warmth.
Make love often, and be sensuous to one another.
Have no fear, and let not the ways or the words
of the unenlightened give you unease.
For God's Spirit is with you.
Now and always.
   
  2   May these two people find a communion of ideal being and perfect grace. May their love for each other reach the level of each day’s quiet need. By sun and by candlelight may they love freely as people strive for right; may they love purely; may they find the strength to meet the adversities, tolerance for the prejudice, reverence for the beauties, respect for the truths and faith for the uncertainties that will come their way. Amen
   
  3   Blessed are those come together in God’s name. We bless you from God’s house.  And may the Eternal One, whose greatness transcends us, yet sets within us the power of friendship and love, bless these friends who are gathered here.
   
  4   May all the blessings of God rest upon you this day and always. Go in peace and celebrate your life. Know that God is with you. amen.
   
  5   If there is righteousness in the heart,
there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character,
there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.
So let it be
   
  6   May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you;
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings,
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.
   
  7   Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the infinite peace to you.
   
  8   O Great Spirit, whose breath gives life to the world, and whose voice is heard in the soft breeze:
We need your strength and wisdom.
Cause us to walk in beauty.
Give us eyes ever to behold the red and purple sunset.
Make us wise so that we may understand what you have taught us.
Help us learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
Make us always ready to come to you with clean hands and steady eyes, so when life fades, like the fading sunset, our spirits may come to you without shame.
   
  9   Now for you there is no rain, for one is shelter to the other.
Now for you the sun shall not burn, for one is shelter to the other.
Now for you nothing is hard or bad, for the hardness and badness is taken by one for the other.
Now for you there is no night, for one is light to the other,
Now for you the snow has ended always, for one is protection for the other.
It is that way, from now on, from now on. And now there is comfort.
Now there is no loneliness. Now forever, forever, there is no loneliness.
   
10   This is a responsive prayer from the Methodist tradition, where the Officiate speaks one part and the congregation the next.

Officiate:
Let love be genuine and live in harmony;
hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good.
Outdo one another in showing honor;
be humble and never conceited.

Congregation:
Love is stronger than death
and jealousy is cruel as the grave.
Floods cannot drown love
and wealth cannot buy it.

Officiate:
Put love above all else;
let Christ's peace rule your hearts.
Always be forgiving,
as Christ has forgiven you.

Congregation:
Love is not jealous or boastful,
arrogant, rude or stubborn,
irritable, resentful or possessive.
Love is patient and kind.

Officiate:
Do not love in word or speech only;
love also in deed and truth.
Receive each other in sincerity,
find mercy and grow old together.

Congregation:
Love rejoices in the right;
it bears, believes, hopes and endures all things,
for love is faithful and endless.

Officiate:
When the lord builds the house,
the labor is never in vain.

Congregation:
Happy are those who take refuge in God;
those who serve the Lord are redeemed.

Officiate:
This is my commandment,
that you love one another as I have loved you.

Congregation:
And two shall become one in love, for we are members of Christ's body.

   
11   All earthly goods I wish thee.
All that's good for thee and thine
And still, not only earthly
But all we know to be divine.
May earth and heaven mingle
May earth and heaven be one
All through your earthly journey
Till sets your earthly sun.
In Sunshine and in shadow
Through dancing and in song
May heaven bless your union
Throughout your whole life long.
   
12   O gracious and everlasting God, you have created us male and female in your image:
Look mercifully upon this couple who come to you seeking your blessing,
and assist them with your grace, that with true fidelity and steadfast love they may honor
and keep the promises and vows they make;
through Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
   
13   Eternal God, our creator and redeemer, as you gladdened the wedding in Cana of Galilee
by the presence of your Son, so by his presence now bring your joy to this wedding.
Look in favor upon N., and N., and grant that they, rejoicing in all your gifts,
may at lengths celebrate with Christ the marriage feast which has no end.
   
14   God in heaven above please protect the ones we love.
We honor all you created as we pledge our hearts and lives together.
We honor mother-earth - and ask for our marriage to be abundant
and grow stronger through the seasons;
We honor fire - and ask that our union be warm and glowing with
love in our hearts; We honor wind - and ask we sail though life
safe and calm as in our father's arms; We honor water - to clean
and soothe our relationship - that it may never thirsts for love;
With all the forces of the universe you created, we pray for harmony
and true happiness as we forever grow young together."
   
15 Lord God, we thank you for the union of hearts of our dear N.,and N.,
On this special day, their wedding day heaven sings in triumph,
For a new love shall unveil the glory of your name.
Holy One, we sincerely pray that you bless this couple
With a love to last forever.
In sickness and in health may they find your strength.
In doubts and troubles may they see your light.
In hurts and failures may they find your pardon.
In loneliness and desperation may they find your joy.
Also we pray, that you bless their family
So blissful, prosperous and ever healthy,
And above all, filled with love, faith and a hope that is founded on you.
   
16   Lord, be the cord that binds this marriage,
for a strand of three cords is not easily broken.
Show them the way to keep mutual respect brightly polished.
May faith brighten their home, forgiveness adorn their hearts
and words of kindness be their only language.
Help them entwine their friendship with the hopes and dreams they have brought to their wedding.
We commit this marriage to you, Lord.
   
17   Lord help them to remember when they first met
and the strong love that grew between them.
Help them to work that love into practical things
so that nothing may divide them.
We ask for words both kind and loving
and hearts always ready to ask forgiveness
as well as to forgive.
Dear Lord, with our blessing we put this marriage into your hands
   
18 May the blessings of the Lord
who brings love and joy and health
pillow you all the days of your life.
   
19 Now you have lit a fire and that fire should not go out.
The two of you now have a fire that represents love,
understanding and a philosophy of life.
It will give you heat, food, warmth and happiness.
The new fire represents a new beginning -
a new life and a new family.
The fire should keep burning; you should stay together.
You have lit the fire for life, until old age separates you.
   
20 May joy and peace surround you both,
Contentment latch your door,
May happiness be with you now;
God bless you evermore.
